I am pleased to announce that I have earned a Certified Rating Specialist designation from the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (ITPTA).
The creation and implementation of this system by the IPTPA is a huge step towards resolving rating issues for tournaments, leagues, ladders, and even recreational play. The rating process includes three distinct sets of assessments where points are earned, weighted, added together, and then compared to minimum requirements for each level from 2.5 through 4.5. Ratings will be done for groups of four players (all to be rated at the same level), and they will take 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.
The system is being rolled out by qualified IPTPA instructors, and it is intended to be an international rating program which will provide a consistent rating across the country. Every player rated by an IPTPA Certified Rating Specialist should have the same result regardless of what part of the country the player resides in or has been tested. This consistent and reliable result will be accomplished not only because of the specificity of the Rating System but because of its execution. Rating sessions will be the same across the country, assuring players that a 3.5 IPTPA rated player will be the same anywhere in the world.
Rating sessions are now available from Pickleball Strokes and please check our website for details - www.pickleballstrokes.ca
